Our Outdoor Classroom 户外教室课程
In this school year, our school opened a new Outdoor Classroom to the primary school kids. We believe that outdoor learning plays an important role as indoor studying, which helps developing learning ability. Throughout different outdoor activities, children not only have happiest memories of their childhood, enjoy outdoor playing; they also can learn about creativity and teamwork. Silvia is an Art & Outdoor Learning Integrator, so we invited her to introduce more detail about this program.
在这一学期，我校为幼儿园的学生们，开设了一门新的室外课程。我们相信在孩子的学习过程中，室外上课和室内上课有着同样的重要性，能帮助他们发展和提高学习能力。通过室外上课，孩子们不仅有一个美好的童年，还能培养创造力和团队合作的能力。Silvia是室外课的主要负责人，这次我们邀请她来和我们介绍一下此课程的具体内容。
Q1: 户外课程是什么？
As a result of teacher collaboration from last school year, we decided to create a space where children could have the opportunity to connect with and explore nature. This space incorporates different learning areas where children can create and play with loose parts and open-ended materials.
去年，我校老师们决定为孩子们提供一个接触和探索大自然的环境。在这个空间里，我们融合了不同的学习区域，这样孩子们可以用多种工具和材料进行创作和游戏。
Q2: 户外课程的目的是什么？它如何同IB课程的PYP课程相联系？
Our outdoor classroom is an extension of the learning experiences that are happening in the classroom. This relates to units of inquiry such as HTWW (How the World Works) and STP (Sharing the Planet), providing deep and rich inquiries for these units of exploration. This space also encourages students to be naturally curios while developing the PYP learner profile attributes in a meaningful way.
我们室外课程是课堂内学习的一种延伸，也是与PYP的理念相结合，让孩子们保持对新鲜事物的好奇心。比如，在教室内，他们会学习HTWW(How the World Works)和STP(Sharing the Planet)等探究单元. 通过室外课的学习，正好为这些探索单元提供更丰富深入的研究。
Q3: 我们为什么要开展该课程？
Our campus did not have a focused outdoor learning space where inspiration, creativity and wonder could take root. A space where curiosity, risk and failures can be experienced and children can explore their interests.
Based on educational and best practice research, encountering natural spaces support children in deepening their understandings about the world. This learning space can help them develop the life skills and awareness they need to be confident and resilient adults, who take responsibility for themselves and their actions.
我们的校园还没有一个可以专门进行户外学习的空间，理想的户外学习空间可以让孩子们在那里培养灵感及创造力。
根据教育研究显示，接触大自然和户外能帮助孩子们加深对世界的认识。这种学习方式不但可以帮助他们发展生活中所需要的技能，还能培养孩子们的自信心和做事情的责任心。
Q4: 户外教室在学校的什么地方？哪几个年级的学生会参与此课程？
The outdoor classroom is outside by our Early Years classrooms. Currently, this space is used during class time for Nursery, PK3 and PK4.
室外教室在我校幼儿园的教室外面。目前，这个空间仅面向于小小班、PK3和PK4的孩子们。
Q5: 有没有组织哪些和该课程相关的活动？他们都是什么？
Kevin O’Shea and I provided a professional development opportunity on Tuesday, October 30 for our CISB staff. During Outdoor Classroom day, all classes are invited to bring their learning outside.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play. On the day, thousands of schools around the world take lessons outdoors and prioritise playtime. Get outside! Play! We always encourage our parents to bring children to play outside not being afraid of getting dirty and messy. It is a great learning opportunity and it is one of the many rights children have; to play.
享受大自然，出去游玩!我们鼓励父母带孩子出去玩，不要害怕孩子们会弄脏衣物。对孩子们来讲，多参加室外活动和游戏也是一种学习的方式。
